Safe Housing - Our Plan
Safety is more than a physical concept; it extends to emotional and psychological well-being. Corrie’s House is committed to providing a supportive and stable environment where survivors of sexual exploitation can rebuild their lives, and develop essential life skills. It offers participants a place to call home, fostering stability, and nurturing a sense of control. Our vision includes a supportive environment staffed by highly trained professionals who are trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and who use a strengths-based approach while ensuring that judgment has no place within our walls.
Safety is foundational as the starting point for recovery from sex trafficking. Providing safety and security in a stable environment is necessary to enable survivors to begin the healing process where youth can feel safe from further exploitation and harm. Corrie’s House will offer a home where youth can begin to trust and feel protected. Having stability and a place to call home can support youth to regain a sense of control over their lives. This stability is essential as a starting point to allow for the process of emotional and psychological well-being to begin.
Designed for youth, ages 16-20, our long-term residential program will span up to 24 months, allowing time for comprehensive healing and rebuilding. Each participant will have a private bedroom, ensuring a personal space for safety, reflection and restoration. Corrie’s House will feature dedicated areas for both individual and group therapy, recognizing the diverse needs of each participant. Additionally, a dedicated education space within our home will facilitate educational advancement by meeting each participant where they are and supporting them through their academic goals.
Community and belonging are integral to our approach. Common gathering spaces will foster connections among peers who share similar experiences. Therapeutic gardens will serve as a unique healing space, allowing participants to engage in the therapeutic process of planting, nurturing, harvesting, cooking, and sharing meals together. Life enrichment activities that inspire hopes and dreams while bringing joy will be offered.
On this journey with Corrie’s House, we are not just building walls- we are supporting and equipping survivors with the skills to courageously reimagine their futures. Our foundational elements are intended to support participants to envision a bright future as we aspire to be a place where youth can trust, be welcomed and protected, and, most importantly, regain control over their lives.
We are actively searching for the right home, and it remains our goal to acquire our home this year!
In unity and advocacy,
